Bruce R. Novey

Bruce R. Novey age 57 of Prairie du Chien passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Weds., Jan. 30, 2008 at the Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital. He was born Oct. 7, 1950 in Prairie du Chien, son of Edward and Jeanne (Welsch) Novey. He married Mary McWilliams on June 23, 1973 at St. John's Church in Prairie du Chien,
where he spent the majority of his life.

Bruce graduated from the University of Wisconsin, LaCrosse in 1972 majoring in Business and Mathematics. He married Mary (McWilliams) on June 23, 1973 at St. John's Catholic Church in Prairie du Chien. He spent thirty-three years with 3M as a Systems Analyst and Information Technology Supervisor.

Bruce had a quick wit and wonderful sense of humor. He eagerly applied his sharp intelligence to solve complex problems or in spirited discussions where he always wanted the last word. Always a conversationalist, Bruce had the ability to turn stangers into friends. He derived immense satisfaction from his career and the great times he enjoyed with family. Bruce took pleasure in traveling, camping, boating, woodworking, and home improvement projects along with playing cards with the "cabin crew". He also actively volunteered in the community through his membership on the St. John's Church Parish Council and the United Way Board.
Bruce is survived by his wife Mary; his children Sarah (Cory Gapstur) Novey, Grant (Jessie Clifford) Novey; mother Jeanne Novey; brothers Ed, Gary (Ann), Don (Jodi), Greg (Maggie), and Tom (Wendy) Novey; sisters Beverly Graham and Barbara Novey; brother-in-law J.T. McWilliams; and fifteen nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Edward J. Novey.
A Mass of Resurrection will be Sat., Feb. 2, 2008 at 1:30 PM at St. John's Catholic Church, Rev. Hubert Boschert S.J. officiating. A private family interment will be held at a later date. Friends may call at the church on Fri., Feb. 1, 2008 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM where there will be a wake scripture at 7:30 PM and also on Sat., Feb. 2, 2008 from 12:30 PM until the time of services. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the Prairie Catholic School Endowment Fund or the Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospice Program. The Garrity Funeral Home of Prairie du Chien is assisting the family.
