Darleen L. Knapp age 90 of Prairie du Chien passed away Saturday, April 29, 2017 at the Great River Care Center in McGregor, IA. She was born March 14, 1927 in Prairie du Chien, the daughter of Cecil and Erma (Holliday) Alderman.  She married Merville Knapp in June of 1948. Darleen assisted in the operation of the family business; Merv’s Floor Center in downtown Prairie du Chien. She and her husband were avid golfers, loved to dance and enjoyed playing bridge. Darleen worked as a volunteer for the Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital. Merv preceded her in death on September 13, 2007.  She is survived by a son Greg (Diane Picha) Knapp of Waunakee, WI, a daughter Deb (Greg) Schlickman of DeForest, WI, her grandchildren, Andrew (Heidi) and Kiley Knapp and Allie Schlickman along with great grandchildren Macey, Fletcher and Everly. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a sister Maureen McFarlane.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at 11:00 AM at St. Gabriel's Church of the Holy Family Parish, with burial in the Calvary Cemetery both in Prairie du Chien, WI. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Great River Care Center, 1400 Main, McGregor, IA 52157.  The Garrity Funeral Home of Prairie du Chien is assisting the family.
