Doris M. Jelinek age 78 of Prairie du Chien passed away on Thurs., Feb. 14, 2008 at the Gunderson Lutheran Medical Center in LaCrosse, WI. She was born July 17, 1929 in Bagley, WI daughter of Joseph and Isabelle (Kirschbaum) Fishler. She married Charles Jelinek on Aug. 24, 1948 at St. Johns Church in Patch Grove, WI. He preceded her in death on Feb. 5, 2001. Together they farmed in the Mt. Hope area until they moved to Prairie du Chien in 1995. Doris worked in nursing for over 25 years, most recently for Homeward Bound. She enjoyed farming, snowmobiling, playing cards, square dancing, bowling, and spending time with family and friends. Her door was always open and the coffee pot was on. She is survived by 3 sons; Dennis (Cindy) and Gary (Cindy) Jelinek both of Prairie du Chien, Jeff (Shirley) Jelinek of Mt. Hope, WI, 2 daughters; Karen (Phil) Spotts of Madison, WI and Rhonda (Dave) White of Darlington, WI, a daughter in law Madonna Jelinek of Bagley, WI, a brother Loren (Diane) Fishler of Prairie du Chien, 2 brothers in law Ray Marmann of Farmersburg, IA and Richard Ginsterblum of Prairie du Chien a sister in law Margaret Kusinski of Briggsville, WI, 14 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son Steve, a brother Donald Fishler, 2 sisters; Rose Ginsterblum and Margaret Marmann and a grandson Brent Jelinek.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Mon., Feb. 18, 2008 at 10:30 AM at St. Johns Catholic Church in Prairie du Chien, with burial in the St. Johns Cemetery in Patch Grove, WI. Friends may call on Sun., Feb. 17, 2008 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Garrity Guneral Home in Prairie du Chien where there will be a rosary at 4:00 PM and a wake scripture at 8:00 PM.
