Gary G. Olson age 74 of Prairie du Chien passed away Monday, January 2, 2017 at the Gundersen Lutheran Health System in LaCrosse, WI after a brief illness.  He was born December 6, 1942 in Spring Grove, MN the son of Bennie and Ellen (Jarland) Olson.  He married Mary Don Malven on June 5, 1966 at the United Methodist Church in Fayette, IA.  Gary taught business education for 36 years at West Grant Schools, Prairie du Chien Schools and Upper Iowa University.  He served as the Crawford County clerk of court and also worked for the Ft. Crawford Museum, the Villa Louis and Evergreen Cemetery.  Gary was an active member of the United Methodist Church and served as a lay leader and speaker.  He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge in Prairie du Chien.  He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mary Don Olson of Prairie du Chien, his children Amy (Bob) Sullivan of Superior, WI, Eric Lee (sig. other Kim Lichtfuss) Olson of Wauzeka, WI and Audre (Chad) Hein of Blooming Prairie, MN, his brother Wayne (Carol) Olson of Glenville, MN, sister in law Kelly Olson of Maquoketa, IA, his grandchildren, Miranda Olson Miller, C.J. and Joshua Hein and Liam Sullivan.  He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Bruce.

Funeral services will be Monday, January 9, 2017 at 11:00 AM at the United Methodist Church, Rev. Barb Cook officiating, with burial in the Evergreen Cemetery both in Prairie du Chien.  Friends may call on Sunday, January 8, 2017 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Garrity Funeral Home in Prairie du Chien where there will be a Masonic Lodge tribute at 7:00 PM.  Friends may also call at the church on Monday from 10:00 AM until the time of services.
