Irene L. (Heisz) Mitchell

 Irene L. Mitchell, age 77, of Prairie du Chien, WI passed away on Monday, November 18, 2019 after a long, courageous battle with cancer. She was born May 28, 1942, the daughter of Charles and Evelyn (Garvey) Heisz. She married Fred Plondke and later divorced. She then married Wayne Mitchell on Nov 28,1987. Irene was
a proud graduate of St Mary's Academy in 1960. Irene loved spending time with her grandchildren,spending time with her dog Lilly, watching the Packers, Badgers, and playing a good game of Euchre. She is survived by her husband Wayne; her son Dan(Becky) Plondke, daughters, Theresa (Todd) Mathison and Julie (Eric) Fuller; her sister Theresa (Steve) Wetter, a brother-in-law Paul (Mary) Mitchell; grandchildren Zach, Katie, Skylar, Nicole, Jenna, Marissa, Savannah (John), Dakota, Ashley and Bailey; sisters-in-law Mary Ann Heisz and Corrine Heisz. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Scott Plondke; brothers, Francis and Ivan Heisz; sister,Mary C Benoy; sister-in-law, Patricia (Kahler) Heisz, and foster brother William Green.                                                          

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, November 22, at 11:00 AM at Saint Gabriel’s Church of the Holy Family Parish in Prairie du Chien, with Monsignor Charles Stoetzel and Rev. James Dubert concelebrating. Interment will be at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery in Eastman, WI. Friends may call at the church on Friday from 9:00 AM until the time of services. The Garrity Funeral Home of Prairie du Chien will be assisting the family.
