James M. Jacoby age 64 died unexpectedly Friday, November 11, 2016 at the Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in LaCrosse, WI after a brief illness.  He was born July 7, 1952 in Santa Monica, CA the son of Merle and Eunice (Christianson) Jacoby.  He received his Bachelor of Arts degree and went on to graduate from the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse with a Master’s of Education degree in history. He married Ruth Bauman on July 26, 1975 in Tomah, WI.  Jim taught history at Prairie du Chien High School from 1976 until his retirement in 2007. He enjoyed pheasant hunting with his golden retrievers and trout fishing, playing chess, running and jumping rope.  He is survived by his sons, Weston and Zachary both of Prairie du Chien, his brother John of LaCrosse, his sister Mary Ellen Rieland of McFarland, WI along with his niece Laura.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial gathering will be Wednesday, November 16, 2016 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Garrity Funeral Home in Prairie du Chien.   A private family interment will be later in the Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery in Beaver Dam, WI.
