Prairie du Chien / Bagley, WI

James M. “Jim” Mason age 87 of Prairie du Chien and formerly of Bagley passed away Sunday, May 28, 2017 at the Gundersen Health Center in LaCrosse, WI.  He was born June 13, 1929 in Beetown, WI the son of Harold and Hilda (Bausch) Mason.  Jim worked at the Veteran’s Hospital in Chicago, IL and later entered the United States Navy where he served during the Korean conflict. He married Marlys Bynum on May 23, 1954 in San Diego, CA.  Jim worked for the Burlington Northern Railroad and later as a machinist for John Deere Company in Dubuque, IA for 32 years until his retirement.  He was a longtime member of the Bagley American Legion and the Bagley Fire Dept.  Jim was an avid hunter and fisherman. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Marlys of Prairie du Chien, his children, Karla (Tom) Richgels of Verona, WI, Tom of Marquette, IA, Harley (Heidi) of New Rochester, NH, Katherine and Jim Mason both of Phoenix, AZ, his grandchildren, Emily (Eric), Alex (Seti), Tommy (Amanda), Marlys and Douglas along with his great grandchildren, Jack and Evelyn.  He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Mary Ellen Key.

A memorial service will be Saturday, June 10, 2017 at 11:00 AM at the Garrity Funeral Home Chapel, Prairie du Chien, WI, with Pastor Barb Cook officiating.  Military honors will be accorded by the Bagley American Legion. A private family Inurnment will follow in the Union Lumpkin Cemetery in Bagley, WI.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the time of services.  www.garrityfuneralhome.com
