Larry J. Jelinek age 92 of Prairie du Chien passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at his home. He was born September 29, 1925 the son of Anthony and Marie (Kautman) Jelinek. He married Edith ‘Sis’ Konichek on September 21, 1950. Larry served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He and Sis farmed for many years in rural Prairie du Chien. He was a longtime member of the Cliffhangers Snowmobile Club. Edith preceded him in death on May 18, 2014. He is survived by his daughters; Sandy (Harold) Guernsey of Eastman, WI, Susie Broadwater of Suwanee, GA, his son; Larry (Heidi) Jelinek Jr. of Avoca, WI, eight grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, 12 great-great grandchildren, sisters in law Betty Jelinek of Black River Falls, WI and Ramona Jelinek of Prairie du Chien . He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, his brothers, Greg, Adrian, Joseph, Anthony, Edmund, Cyril and LaVerne, his sisters, Sophie Stankus, Josephine Stumpner and Marie Colson Heisz and his grandson Larry Jelinek III.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, April 21, 2018 at 10:30 AM at St. John’s Church of the Holy Family Parish, Rev. James Weighner officiating, with burial in the Calvary Cemetery both in Prairie du Chien. Military honors will be accorded by the Prairie du Chien Honor Guard.
