Leona M. Carl age 100 of Prairie du Chien, WI passed away Saturday, January 28, 2017 at Crossing Rivers Health Care in Prairie du Chien.  She was born December 6, 1916 in Prairie du Chien, the daughter of Amos and Mary (Mertens) Zable.  She married Oscar Carl on Novemeber23, 1935 at St. Gabriel’s Church in Prairie du Chien.  He preceded her in death on February 3, 1999. Leona was an active member of St. Gabriel’s Parish.  She is survived by her children Dr. Richard (Kay) Carl of Phoenix, AZ, Arthur (Kathy) Carl of Beloit, WI, and Shirley (Donald) Cipra of Prairie du Chien, WI, nine grandchildren, and seventeen great grandchildren along with four great great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a brother Lawrence Zable.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at 11:00 AM at St. Gabriel’s Church of the Holy Family, Rev. James Weighner officiating, with burial in the Calvary Cemetery both in Prairie du Chien.  Friends may call on Tuesday from 9:00 AM until the time of departure for the church at the Garrity Funeral Home in Prairie du Chien. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Crossing Rivers Hospice or Crossing Rivers Health Care in Prairie du Chien.
