Leota passed peacefully from this life the evening of February 27th after a gradual decline in health. She was surrounded and supported by her loving family during the last days of her life. Leota was born in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin on July 22, 1936 and spent the first years of her life in Wisconsin, moved to California during World War II, returned to Wisconsin for high-school and was the first person in her family to go to college, attending UW Platteville, which paved the way for her siblings to also go to college. Following graduation, she was a biology and home economics teacher in New Glarus, Wis. On June 23, 1962 she married Robert Granzow in Eastman, Wisconsin. Leota lived life to the fullest and made an impact wherever she went. She was a natural born leader and proudly contributed to the Eastman community for over 50 years.
Leota is survived by her husband Robert, her children Wayne Granzow (Carmen), Paul Granzow (Taya), Lori Kossman, Lesa Mellis (George), Becky Vogel (Tim), Bob Granzow, Andrew Granzow (Jennifer); 22 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and her brothers Ronnie (Sylvia) and Kenny (Alla) Hollenberger. She was preceded in death by her parents Henry and Naomi Hollenberger, and her sister Velda DuCharme (Laverne) and brother-in-law, Roger Granzow (Lorraine).
Funeral services will be Thursday, March 1, 2018 at 1:00 PM at the Salem United Methodist Church, Rev. Lynn Schreck officiating with burial in the National Cemetery both in Eastman.
