Lois M. Zinkle, 85, of Steuben,WI, died Sunday, August 14, 2016 at Crossing Rivers Health, Prairie du Chien, WI. She was born July 13, 1931 to Charles and Edith (Hamann) Zeeh in Prairie du Chien. She attended Porter School at Wauzeka and High School at Prairie du Chien. Lois and Robert Zinkle were married on September 6, 1948 in Eastman, WI. They farmed in the Citron Valley area near Steuben, WI, for over 50 years beginning in 1949.

Lois was always a very hard working individual who had great love for farm pets, birds, gardening and growing plants and flowers. She was a wonderful baker and cook. Lois and Bob owned and operated the grocery store at Steuben and the Great River Discount Store in Prairie du Chien. In later years, Lois worked at Kickapoo Orchards in Gays Mills and at the Boscobel Wilson Nursery.

Lois is survived by a daughter, Karen (Ronald) Wallin of Seneca; a son, Brian Zinkle of Gays Mills; two grandchildren, Todd (Heather) Fisher Wallin of Ferryville; and Sara (Ronald) Ross of Prairie du Chien; seven great-grandchildren, Johnathon (Erin), Benjamin, Leilani, Zahara, Sean, Zachary and James; and a great- great grandchild, Sebastion; two brothers-in-laws, A.P. (Katie) Zinkle of Wauzeka and Jerome (Kathy) Zinkle of Carnation, Washington; two sisters-in-law; Jeanne Neis of Plano, Texas and Sue Zinkle of Steuben.

In addition to her husband Robert, who died March 9, 2006, she was preceded in death by a son, Robert; her parents; two brothers, Henry Zeeh and William Zeeh; one sister, Alma Mallat; eight brothers-in-law, and five sisters-in-law, Cecelia Zeeh, Carroll Mallat, Lois (Jack) McKendry, Eileen (Kermit) Groom, Richard Zinkle, David (Pat) Zinkle, Dianne (Ronald) Bird, William Zinkle, Glenn Neis and father and mother-in-law, Aloysius and Gertrude Zinkle.

A memorial service will be Friday, August 19, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at the Garrity Funeral Home Chapel in Prairie du Chien, Reverend Lynn Schreck officiating, with burial in the St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Seneca WI.  Friends may call at the funeral home from 9:00 A.M. until the time of services.
