Margaret M. (Valley) Gilkes

Margaret M. Gilkes age 81 of Prairie du Chien passed away Thursday, February 15, 2018 at her home following an extended illness.  She was born January 18, 1937 in Prairie du Chien, the daughter of Peter and Marquret (Peerin) Valley.  She married Franklin Gilkes on August 9, 1958 in Prairie du Chien.  Margaret worked at the Prairie Convalescent Center for 18 years and later for Crawford County Human Services in home health care.  She enjoyed playing cards, fishing and playing Uno.  She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Frank of Prairie du Chien, their children, Patrick Gilkes of Oshkosh, WI, Timothy and Julie Gilkes both of Prairie du Chien and Jeffrey Gilkes of Madison, WI, her brother, Richard Valley of Ogdensburg, NY, her grandchildren, Jason, Cory and Kasey.  She was preceded in death by her parents and a son Michael Gilkes.

Funeral services will be Monday, February 19, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the Garrity Funeral Home Chapel in Prairie du Chien with Chaplain Maggie Wehner officiating, with burial in the Brodtville Cemetery in Patch Grove, WI.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 9:00 AM until the time of services.
