Mary M. Berger age 94 of Prairie du Chien passed away Sunday, February 19, 2017 at the Crossing Rivers Health Care Center.  She was born March 31, 1922 in Patch Grove, WI the daughter of Albert and Kathryn (Vogt) Richter.  She married Charles Berger on March 30, 1940.  He later preceded her in death after 64 years of marriage on October 10, 2004.  There wasn't a thing Mary couldn't do. Her passions were watching the Catholic Mass and saying the rosary daily, sewing, quilting, baking, canning, refinishing furniture, painting, cooking, praying cards, BINGO, doing puzzles, square dancing, and "talking". She made a friend everywhere she went.  She is survived by her sons, William (Margaret) Berger of Aurora, IL, Ronald Picco and Timothy Berger both of Rio Rancho, NM, James Berger of Pompano Beach, FL, her daughters, Darlene Fischer of Mesa, AZ, NM and Debra Berger of Batavia, IL, son in law Wayne Olson of Hinckley, IL, 19 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her children Dianna Olson and Garry Berger, a brother Celestine Richter, her sisters, Florence Hill, Nellie and Dorothy Richter, Sabina Strnad, Alberta Bradley and Ann Waller.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, February 24, 2017 at 11:00 AM at St. Gabriel’s Church of the Holy Family Parish, Rev. James Weighner officiating with burial in the Calvary Cemetery both in Prairie du Chien.  Friends may call on Friday from 9:00 AM until the time of departure for the church at the Garrity Funeral Home in Prairie du Chien.
