Richard A. "Dick" Ginsterblum

July 5, 1924 ~ October 24, 2017 (age 93) 93 Years Old


Richard A. “Dick” Ginsterblum age 93 of Prairie du Chien passed away Tuesday, October 24, 2017.  He was born July 5, 1924 in Prairie du Chien the son of Anthony and Amy (DeMuth) Ginsterblum.  Dick was a WW II Navy Veteran and was proud to have recently been on the Honor Flight.  He married Rose Fishler on April 25, 1959 in Patch Grove, WI.  Rose preceded him in death on November 15, 1997.  Dick worked for General Telephone for 40 years as a linesman and switchman in Portage, WI.  He enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, playing cards, golfing and especially the Cubs.  His biggest goal was to live long enough to watch the Cubs in the World Series.  He had close ties with famil;y and friends and enjoyed many conversations with them.  He is survived by his sons, Randal and Richard (Jenny) Ginsterblum, sisters, Sr. Joan Ginsterblum and Marian (Walt) Carroll, extended family of 8 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, brothers, Fr. John, Donald and Neil along with sisters, Helen Watson, Ann Sheridan and Alice Farris. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, October 27, 2017 at 10:30 AM at St. Gabriel’s Church of the Holy Family Parish, Rev. James Weighner officiating, with burial in the Calvary Cemetery both in Prairie du Chien.  Military honors will be accorded graveside by the Prairie du Chien Honor Guard.  Friends may call on Thursday, October 26, 2017 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Garrity Funeral Home in Prairie du Chien where there will be a wake scripture at 7:00 PM.
