Richard W. Hein age 83 of Owatonna and formerly of Prairie du Chien passed away Thursday, December 21, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born November 14, 1934 in Dubuque, IA the son of Milton and Virginia (Donner) Hein.  Richard farmed most of his life in Clayton County, Iowa. He is survived by his sons Jerry Hein, Roger (Danielle) Hein, Chad (Audre) Hein and Robert (Andrea McGuire) Hein all of Blooming Prairie, MN, Tony (Brenda Rufledt) Hein of Bloomer, WI and, his daughters, Lisa (Skip Check) Hein of Eastman, WI, Teresa Hein ( Mike Trnka) and Barb (Jeff) Stendel both of Owatonna, MN, a sister Diane (Loren) Fishler of Prairie du Chien, 33 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren along with his dear friend Carol Armoto.  He was preceded in death by a daughter Wendy Hess, his brothers, Milton Fred Jr., David Willard Sr., Howard John and Bruce Milton, a sister Marlene Virginia Mattie two infant sisters  along with two grandsons, Ryan and Ethan.

Funeral services will be Thursday, December 28, 2017 at 11:00 AM at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Rev. Joe Irvin officiating, with burial in the Evergreen Cemetery both in Prairie du Chien.  Friends may call on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Garrity Funeral Home in Prairie du Chien and at the church on Thursday from 10:00 AM until the time of services.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Allina Hospice Program, 2350 NW 26th St., Owatonna, MN 55060
