Shirley J. (Horkheimer) Sheckler

Shirley J. Sheckler age 80 of Prairie du Chien passed away Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at the Mayo Health System in LaCrosse, WI after a brief illness.  She was born July 26, 1937 in Woodman, WI the daughter of Benjamin and Katherine (Cullen) Horkheimer.  She married Robert Sheckler on December 3, 1955 in Prairie du Chien.  She and her husband owned and operated S&S Shell Company and Shirley later worked at 3M Company in Prairie du Chien.  Robert preceded her in death on August 20, 2000.  Shirley enjoyed cooking; a favorite was her potato dumplings.  She is survived by her children, Robert (Bonnie) Sheckler of Prairie du Chien, Randy (Paula) Sheckler of Fennimore, WI, Bryan (Monica) Sheckler of Englewood, FL, Scott (Jill) Sheckler and Shirley (Scott) Welsch both of Prairie du Chien, her sister Bonnie (Bill) Boggert of Schenectady, NY, 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grabndchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a sister Blanche Kirk.

Funeral services will be Saturday, February 3, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the Salem United Methodist Church in Eastman, WI, Rev. Lynn Schreck officiating, with burial in the Evergreen Cemetery in Prairie du Chien.  Friends may call at the church on Saturday, February 3, 2018 from 9:00 AM until the time of services.
