Wenceslaus "Winnie" Mezera age 71 of Eastman, WI passed away Sat., Feb. 10, 2007 at the Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital. He was born Sept. 28, 1935 in Bridgeport, WI, son of Charles and Lucy (Wall) Mezera. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He married Sharon Becwar on Sept. 10, 1960 at St. Gabriel's Church in Prairie du Chien. He worked for the Crawford County Highway Department for 23 years and was an active member of the Eastman Fire Dept. for over 40 years where he was nominated Fireman of the Year in 2005. Winnie enjoyed camping, fishing, planting flowers, and mowing the county parks. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Sharon Mezera of Eastman, WI, 3 daughters; Wendy (Joe) Froiseth of Viroqua, WI, Angela (Douglas) DuCharme of Eastman, WI and Tammy (Alan) Foley of Seneca, WI, 2 sons; Randy (Laurel) Mezera of LaCrosse, WI and Rodney Mezera of Eastman, WI, 3 brothers; Clem (Catherine) Mezera of Prairie du Chien, Dan (Phyllis) Mezera of Florida and Chad (Pat) Mezera of Eastman, WI, 3 sisters; Mary Shedivy of Prairie du Chien, WI, Monica (Lawrence) Bay of Steuben, WI and Beth (Paul) Scheckel of Soldiers Grove, WI, 11 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. He was preceded in death by a son Wenceslaus and his parents.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Weds., Feb. 14, 2007 at 11:00 AM at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Eastman, WI, Rev. Thomas Huff officiating, with burial in the church cemetery. Military Rites will be accorded graveside. Friends may call on Tues., Feb. 13, 2007 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Garrity Funeral Home in Prairie du Chien, WI, where there will be a rosary at 7:30 PM.
