Charles Quick Obituary

Charles Benjamin Quick, age 99 of Prairie du Chien, formerly of Patch Grove, WI, passed away Saturday, March 2, 2024, at Lancaster Health Services in Lancaster, WI. He was born on November 12, 1924, in Wyalusing township to Benjamin and Dora (Ariss) Quick. He grew up in the rural Patch Grove area and graduated from Fagan rural grade school and then Bloomington High School in 1943. He served two years in the U.S. Navy during World War II. On June 21, 1965, he married Catherine Stagman Kellogg, and they had a son, Dwight William, in 1966. He farmed in the Patch Grove and Bagley area with the help of Catherine and her family until retirement in 1980. He then spent several years in South Dakota helping on ranches, haying, farming, and working with lots of cattle before returning to Prairie du Chien in 2009. He liked being outside and travelling. He enjoyed deer hunting trips to northern Wisconsin with groups of friends, hunting rattlesnakes with his friend Earl Dahlke in South Dakota and trapping in both Wisconsin and South Dakota. He travelled to Australia twice, the first time to help with the wheat harvest and the second time on a bus trip seeing Australia from top to bottom. He also travelled to Alaska four times, his first trip was with his dad and five neighbors and the last was with his son. Charles is survived by his son, Dwight of Prairie du Chien, WI, three stepchildren, Michael (Shelly) Kellogg of Bagley, WI, Mark (Mary) Kellogg of Canton, TX, and Marlys Kellogg of Middleton, WI, stepdaughter-in-law Cindy Kellogg of Dakota City, NE, eight step grandchildren, Elaine, Jesse, Terri, Mitchell, Montgomery, Maxwell, Matthew, Sarah and six step-great grandchildren, Madison, Zeke, Jordan, Vayda, Jackson, and Gus. He was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine, his parents, Ben and Dora Quick, brothers, Russell, Robert, William, and infant brother Darold, sisters, Ruth Klinkhammer and Janice (Ariss) Zimmerman and a stepson, Maurice Kellogg.   

Funeral Services will be Friday, March 8, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. at the United Methodist Church in Prairie du Chien, Pastor Zach Bloom officiating with burial in the Brodtville Cemetery in Wyalusing township. Friends may call at the church on Friday from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service. Military Honors will be accorded graveside the Bagley American Legion Post 482.
