Ruth Marie (White) Brown

Ruth M. Brown, age 79 of Prairie du Chien passed away Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at Dove Healthcare in Fennimore, WI. She was born in Lancaster, WI on June 20, 1944, the daughter of Fred and Alice (Cooley) White. She grew up on the family farm in Mt. Hope, WI and graduated from West Grant High School with the class of 1962. Ruth married Wallace Brown on October 6, 1973, at the United Methodist Church in Mt. Hope. Together, they moved to Madison, WI where Ruth worked as a unit clerk at University of Wisconsin Healthcare System. She worked there for many years until retirement, at which time Ruth and Wallace retired to Prairie du Chien. Ruth always loved her dogs, especially Jessie, Kelly, and Molly. She loved to spend time with family at their cottage at Jay’s Landing. She also loved playing bingo and making trips to the casino. She had good humor, quick wit, and was never afraid to speak her mind. Ruth’s husband Wallace preceded her in death on September 16, 2020, after 46 years of marriage. She is survived by her brother Roger (Marjorie) White, sister-in-law Carolyn White-Knapp, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Virgil and Harold White; and sisters Florence Krachey, Marilyn Crubaugh, and Doris Fremont.

A Graveside Service will be Saturday, May 4, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. in the Calvary Cemetery in Prairie du Chien. The Garrity Funeral Home of Prairie du Chien is assisting the family.
