Charles B. Enke age 89 of Prairie du Chien and formerly of Mt. Hope, passed away Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at the Prairie Maison Care Center. He was born February 6, 1929 in Patch Grove, WI the son of Alvin and Sadie (Wilkinson) Enke. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He married Irene Long in 1955 Together they farmed in the Mt. Hope area until his retirement in 1988, when they moved to Prairie du Chien. Chuck loved woodworking and was active in the Town and Country Jamboree where he served as the past president. He enjoyed dancing on Friday nights at Huckleberry’s. Irene preceded him in death in 2005. He is survived by his children, William Enke of McGregor, IA, Jeanne (Dan) Case of Lancaster, WI and Bob AJ (fiance Paula Sturmer) Enke of Mt. Hope, son in law, Dennis Paulus of Bloomington, WI, a grandchild Penny (Dan) Schelberger, great grandchildren, Riley and Emma along with his special friend Phyllis Kratochvill Enke. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a daughter Judy Paulus, a brother Maurice and an infant sister.
Funeral services will be Friday, March 2, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the Garrity Funeral Home Chapel in Prairie du Chien, Pastor Mary Ann Floerke officiating, with burial in the Union Nagel Cemetery in Patch Grove, WI. Military rites will be accorded graveside. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 9:00 AM until the time of services.
