Henry L. "Hank" Nelsen

Henry L. “Hank” Nelsen age 94 of Prairie du Chien passed away Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at the Crossing Rivers Hospital in Prairie du Chien.  He was born February 12, 1924 in Springfield, MN the son of Nels and Tekla (Christensen) Nelsen.  He served in the US Army Air Corps during WW II in the European Theatre. He married Geraldine Halverson on June 27, 1953 in Chicago, IL.  Hank worked as a carpenter and he and Gerry enjoyed collecting and selling antiques. They also owned and operated the Holiday Motel in Prairie du Chien.  He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Gerry, his daughter Christi (Craig) Trebes of Crystal Lake, IL and Chari (Scott) Nelson of Hudson, WI, 7 grandsons, 2 granddaughters, 7 great grandchildren and 2 great granddaughters.  He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, 3 sisters and 1 great grandson.

Funeral services will be Monday, May 14, 2018 at 11:00 AM at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Prairie du Chien, Rev. Joe Irvin officiating with burial in the Marion Lutheran Church Cemetery in Gunder, IA.  Military honors will be accorded by the Prairie du Chien Honor Guard.  Friends may call on Sunday, May 13, 2018 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Garrity Funeral Home in Prairie du Chien and at the church on Monday from 10:00 AM until the time of service.
