Lowell D. Forde

Lowell D. Forde age 78 of Prairie du Chien passed away Monday, August 20, 2018 at his home following a courageous battle with cancer.  He was born July 30, 1940 in Decorah, IA the son of Walter and Gladys (Hulquist) Forde.  He served in the US Navy during the Viet Nam War. He married Suzanne Nodland Faldet on July 4, 1993 in Las Vegas, Nev.  Lowell worked as a barge captain on the Mississippi River for many years.  He was an active member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Prairie du Chien and loved picnics.  He is survived by his wife Suzanne of Prairie du Chien, stepchildren, Deborah (Wayne) Kirkeby of Ridgeway, IA, Dawn (John) Pappas of Maple Grove, MN, Marcus (Jody) Faldet of Cresco, IA and Marty (Jenny) Faldet of Calmar, IA, brothers, Bruce (Cam) Forde of Decorah, IA and Wilbur (Judy) Forde of Little Rock, AR, 12 step grandchildren, 7 step great grandchildren and a nephew Chris.  He was preceded in death by his parents and a step granddaughter Chanda Halverson.

A memorial service will be Friday, August 24, 2018 at 2:00 PM at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Prairie du Chien with Rev. Joe Irvin officiating.  Military honors will be accorded by the Prairie du Chien Honor Guard.  A private family inurnment will be later.  Friends may call at the church on Friday from 1:00 PM until the time of services.
