Lyle J. Marfilius age 86 of Prairie du Chien passed away on his 63rd wedding anniversary May 5, 2017 at the Crossing Rivers Hospital.  He was born August 2, 1930 in Prairie du Chien the son of Clarence and Martha (McCarthy) Marfilius.  He married Roberta Gillitzer on May 5, 1954 at St. Gabriel’s Church.  He and and his wife farmed in rural Prairie du Chien and were active members of St. Gabriel’s Parish, the Farm Bureau and several card clubs. Roberta preceded him in death on January 12, 2015.  He is survived by his children Bob of Boscobel, WI, Becky (Mick) Rooney of Prairie du Chien, Randy of Evansville, IN, Rick of Sheboygan, WI and Rod (Sandy) of Prairie du Chien, brothers in law, Jim (Joan) Gillitzer of Madison, WI and Don (Karolyn) Gillitzer of Prairie du Chien, a sister in law Sandi Marfilius of Stanwood, MI, 18 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren and counting.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, his brothers Lewis (Faye), Donald, Kenneth and Richard, along with his father and mother in law, Bob and Carmen Gilltzer.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, May 11, 2017 at 11:00 AM at St. Gabriel’s Church of the Holy Family Parish, Rev. James Weighner officiating, with interment in the Calvary Cemetery both in Prairie du Chien. Friends may call on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Garrity Funeral Home in Prairie du Chien and at the church on Thursday from 10:00 AM until the time of services.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Prairie Catholic Schools or the Holy Family Parish. www.garrityfuneralhome.com
