Michael Richard Bartz

Michael R. Bartz of Prairie du Chien passed away Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at Crossing Rivers Health in Prairie du Chien.  He was born August 25, 1941 in Milwaukee, WI the son of Harold and Florence (Hackbarth) Bartz.  Michael served in the United States Marine Corps from 1959 to1963, during the Cuban Missile Crisis in the Florida Keys.  He married Vivian Wall on April 18, 1964 in Elm Grove, WI.  Michael served the City of Wauwatosa, WI as a Police Officer for 27 years until his retirement.  He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Vivian Bartz of Prairie du Chien; his son Michael (Michele) Bartz of Bagley; and a sister, Lynda (Wayne) Parfitt of Gays Mills.  He is preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, John, and a brother Harold.

Funeral services will be Monday, December 17, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at the Garrity Funeral Home Chapel in Prairie du Chien, WI, with Pastor Kyle Svennungsen officiating.  Military honors will be accorded by the Prairie du Chien Honor Guard.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services.  A private family interment will be at a later date.
