Robert O. Hinkel

Robert O. Hinkel age 89 of Marquette, IA passed away Sunday, April 22, 2018 at his home.  He was born January 27, 1929 in Wadena, IA the son of Oscar and Mae (Voshell) Hinkel.  He married Wanita Bruehahn on September 20, 1948 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in McGregor, IA. She later preceded him in death on February 10, 2000. Robert worked for the Milwaukee Road and later the Soo Line Railroad for over 45 years until his retirement.  He loved to play golf, softball, and baseball.  Robert served as the MarMac School Board President and as a City Clerk for the City of Marquette. He is survived by his son Larry (Rita) Hinkel of Prairie du Chien, WI and a daughter Janet (James) Wachuta of Des Moines, IA, 5 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, his sisters, Bernadine (Ronald)Ginter, FL, and Betty (Robert) Pries, Waterloo, IA and his dear friend Maxine Henry of Dubuque, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, his brothers, Donald, Russell, John, Richard, William and Delmar Hinkel along with his sisters, Alo Church and Ona Buck.

Funeral services will be Wednesday April 25, 2018 at 1:00 P.M. at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Prairie du Chien, Pastors Joe Irvin and Kyle Svennungsen officiating, with burial in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery in McGregor.  Friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 11 A.M. until the time of service.
