Prairie du Chien, WI
Stanley J. Hamann age 96, a lifelong resident of Prairie du Chien, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at the Prairie Maison Care Facility. He is survived by his son Rick (Patty) of Prairie du Chien, his daughter Jan (George) Collins of Somers, CT, his sister Priscilla (Jimmy) Englebright of Homosassa, FL. He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Leona in 1999, his friend Ag in 2009, three sisters and one infant brother. Stan served in the US Army during WW II overseas and later returned to become a prominent businessman in Prairie du Chien, operating and later owning Hamann’s Variety Store for 40 years. In his spare time he was an avid hunter and fisherman spending countless hours pursuing these pastimes on the Mississippi River.
Funeral services will be Saturday, July 7, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the Garrity Funeral Home Chapel, Pastor Barb Cook officiating, with burial in the Evergreen Cemetery both in Prairie du Chien. Military honors will be accorded by the Prairie du Chien Honor Guard. Friends may call on Friday, July 6, 2018 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and one hour prior to services on Saturday at the funeral home.
