Wilbur L. Rupp age 102 of Prairie du Chien passed away at his home on Tuesday, December 12, 2017. He was born April 16, 1915 in Slater, IA the son of Charles and Mae (Peterson) Rupp. He married Bernice Minor on November 12, 1941 in Wheaton, IL. Wilbur served in the US Navy during WW II in the Pacific Theatre. He worked as a millwright in the electromotive division of General Motors for over 35 years until his retirement. He later enjoyed working as a handyman and painter. Bernice preceded him in death on May 16, 1997 after 56 years of marriage. Wilbur was an active member of the VFW, the American Legion and the Holy Name Society. He is survived by his daughters, Mary Rupp and Beverly Regester both of Prairie du Chien, his grandchildren Deb, Anne (Mark), Monica, Melissa (Rhonda), and Robert (Kristy), his great grandchildren, Kelly, Tiffany(Eric), Jacob Wilbur, Jillian (Joel), Carissa, Anthony, Helena, Andrew, Robert D., Arwyn, and Alexander and one on the way, his great-great grandchildren, Zane, Aliceya, Zander and Lawson, sister in law, Barbara Rupp, many nieces, nephews and dear friends, Delbert, Dean, Bob Jr. and Norm. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and five siblings, Blanche, Chuck, Lois, Margaret and Paul.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, December 15, 2017 at 11:00 AM at St. Gabriel’s Church of the Holy Family Parish in Prairie du Chien with burial in the Gays Mills Cemetery in Gays Mills, WI. Military honors will be accorded graveside. Friends may call at the church on Friday from 10:00 AM until the time of service.
