William K. "Bill" Wild

William K. “Bill” Wild age 73 of McGregor passed away Thursday, May 23, 2019 at Crossing Rivers Health in Prairie du Chien, WI.  He was born April 26, 1946 in Waukon, IA the son of William and Evelyn (Regan) Wild.  Bill served in the US Army in Vietnam as a sharpshooter in the infantry.  He was decorated for valor and received the Purple Heart for injuries he sustained there.  Bill worked at Wyalusing Academy in Prairie du Chien for over 30 years as a social worker.  He is survived by his brothers Mel (Maureen) of McGregor and Maurice (Marie) of Elmira, NY, his sister Eileen (Carl) Olofson of Lake Geneva, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial gathering will be Friday, June 7, 2019 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Garrity Funeral Home Chapel.  Interment with military honors will be Saturday, June 8, 2019 at 9:00 AM at Lycurgus Cemetery in Waukon, IA. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the NE Iowa Vietnam Veteran’s Association.
