Barbara Lee (Lindberg) Pederson

Barbara L. Pederson, age 77 of Prairie du Chien passed away Thursday, March 16, 2023 at Crossing Rivers Health surrounded by her family. She was born in Rousseau, MI on May 10, 1945, the daughter of Frank and Signe (Lakkala) Lindberg. Barbara grew up in Rockland, MI where she graduated from Rockland High School with the class of 1963. Shortly thereafter she met the love of her life, Gerald Pederson Sr., and they were married in Chippewa Falls, WI on August 3, 1963. Together, they moved to Rhinelander, WI where they would raise their family and spend nearly 60 years together. For many years, she worked in childcare, caring for children as though they were her own. Later, she worked in Hanson’s Greenhouse, nurturing both plants and her green thumb. Barbara cherished camping trips to Bob Lake with her family. She was well known for the beautiful flower gardens she lovingly cultivated in the lawn of her family home. She was known for being a strong willed, giving, and spunky wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was preceded in death by her husband Jerry on December 17, 2022; her parents; her siblings Jim Lindberg and Carole Walters; and her brother-in-law Norman Pence. She is survived by her children Melissa (Kirby) Kohler, Tamara (Paul) Berns, and Jerry Pederson Jr. Barbara also had a very close relationship with Michelle (Scott) Roeser-Samuels whom she considered her unofficial adopted daughter. She is survived by her siblings Fran (Robert) Pender, Nancy Pence, Dori (John) Spolarich, and Butch (Hilda) Lindberg; her grandchildren Autumn, Landon, and Tanner Kohler, Aaron, Olivia, and Hannah Berns, and Chelsea Pederson; her sister-in-law Dee Lindberg and brother-in-law Howie Walters; her great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. 

According to Barbara’s wishes, there will be no formal funeral services.
