Bernard Daniel "Butch" Boland

Bernard D. “Butch” Boland, age 84 of Prairie du Chien passed away Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at Dove Healthcare in Fennimore, WI. He was born on June 16, 1940, to Daniel and Mary (Finley) Boland. He married Bonnie Payne on February 24, 1968, and together they raised 2 children. Butch drove school bus and worked on the family farm before moving to Prairie du Chien in 1968. He worked in delivery & sales for local beer companies for several years. He later managed Timber Lanes bowling alley in Prairie du Chien for 7 years. Butch then became a salesman for Holiday Wholesale for 22 years until retirement in 2015, at the age of 75. He was a proud, 100% FBI (Full Blooded Irishman) and loved to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with friends and family. He and his wife Bonnie were proud to be the King & Queen of the 2006 Prairie du Chien St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Butch was a man of strong Catholic faith and an active member of St. Gabriel’s Church of the Holy Family Parish in Prairie du Chien. There, he ushered and volunteered for many years. He always had a joke and a smile. Butch’s wife Bonnie preceded him in death on May 1, 2023. He is survived by his daughter Rhonda (Brian) Kazda; daughter-in-law Marcie (Mielke) Boland; siblings Michael (Jeanne) Boland, Tom (MaryAnn) Boland, Terry (Beth) Boland, Tim (Barb) Boland, Dennis (Robin) Boland, Jerry (Ruth) Boland, Maureen (John) Nebeck, Marleen (Gary) Venner; Sister-in-Law Sue Boland; grandchildren Bryce (Tayler Marshall) Kazda, Brock (Maddie) Kazda, Bridget (Nate Patzner) Kazda, Brynlee (Kyle Adrian) Kazda; Bailey (Colton) Caldwell, and Brenna (Adam Bergo) Boland; great-grandchildren Payton, Kendra, Klayton, & Everleigh Kazda, Stevie Marshall, and Caitlynn Patzer; brothers and sisters-in-law Rochelle Payne, Gary (Ann) Payne, James (Darlene) Payne, Richard Payne, Vicki Linder, and Debra (Lennie) Davidson; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; son Robert Boland; mother and father-in-law Milford & Judith (Grimsled) Payne; siblings Richard Boland, Kathleen (Susie) Hogan, Colleen Boland, Daniel Boland, and Mary Boland; brothers and sisters-in-law Ronald Hogan, Judith Fisher, Gary & Ann Payne, Dale Payne, and Bernard Linder.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, December 13, 2024, at 11:30 A.M. at St. Gabriel’s Church of the Holy Family Parish in Prairie du Chien, Fr. Brandon Guenther officiating with burial in the St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery in Seneca, WI. Friends may call at the church on Friday from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Dove Healthcare at 1850 11th St., Fennimore, WI 53809.
