Beryl William “Bud” Gochenaur

Prairie du Chien, WI

Beryl “Bud” Gochenaur age 88 of Prairie du Chien passed away Friday, March 24, 2023 surrounded by his family. He was born June 18, 1934 in Richland Center, WI the son of Beryl and Ruth (Dettmann) Gochenaur.  After graduating from high school, Bud served as a US Navy Sea Bee during the Korean Conflict.  He met the love of his life, Joan Porter, while serving at Weymouth Naval Air Station, in Massachusetts.  They shared 66 years of married life. Bud was a successful career salesman, his last 20 years as a real estate broker.  He was the Past Commander of the Viola American Legion and served as a trustee for the Eagles Club Aerie 1502 in Prairie du Chien.  He was an avid Packer fan and enjoyed golfing, hunting, and storytelling.  He had a wonderful sense of humor.

He is survived by his wife, Joan, his children Sandra (Gary) Michaels and Brian (Kelly) Gochenaur, his brother Arthur (Mary Ann Hall Ekern), sister-in-law Mary Ann Ekern, five grandsons, five great granddaughters and a great grandson.  He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant daughter Shauna Lindsay Gochenaur, and brother David Ekern.

The family is grateful for the compassionate care Bud received from the staff of Crossing Rivers Hospice and Hospital and from the staff of Prairie Maison.

A Memorial Service will be Saturday, April 1, 2023 at 11:00 AM at the Garrity Funeral Home Chapel in Prairie du Chien. Interment with military honors will be at later date in the Viola Cemetery.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 9:30 AM until the time of services.
