Caroline June (Bunts) Wood

Caroline J. Wood, age 93 of Verona, WI, formerly of Prairie du Chien passed away Saturday, December 16, 2023, at SSM Health at St. Mary’s Care Center in Madison, WI. She was born on September 17, 1930, the daughter of Harmon and Sarah (Tittle) Bunts. She grew up near Mt. Hope, WI and graduated from Mt. Hope High School with the class of 1949. Caroline married Gerald Wood on October 12, 1950, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. Together, they moved to Prairie du Chien where they worked and raised their family. Caroline worked at Campion Jesuit High School helping with laundry for many years. She was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary 1502 in Prairie du Chien. She also worked as a waitress at Tony’s Diner in Prairie du Chien and more recently at JC Penny in Madison, WI until retirement. She is survived by her daughter Deborah Miller; grandchildren Matthew (Shannon), Alex, Seth, and Ryan Miller; great-grandchildren Claire and Drew Miller and Magnolia. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Gerald, son in-law Gregg Miller, and 12 siblings.   

A Graveside Service will be Thursday, December 21, 2023, at 10:00 A.M. in the Evergreen Cemetery in Prairie du Chien.
