Chester (Bud) M. Boardman Jr., age 81, of Lancaster, WI., passed away suddenly on January 17, 2025, at Lancaster Memorial Hospital. Chester was born on April 4, 1943, to Chester Sr. and Pearl (Frankland) Boardman in Kansas City, Missouri. After Chester graduated from Lancaster High School, he served in the U.S. Navy (1962-1964). Chester was an AC Engine Mechanic and a Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron. Chester married Judy Taylor, the love of his life, in Dubuque, Iowa on October 13, 1962. Sadly, Judy passed away on October 13, 1970, following a battle with cancer. Chester traveled the United States as a truck driver before working in maintenance at Skyline in Lancaster, WI. His last job before retirement was working at EMC (Energy Management Consultant) in Fennimore, WI, working on installing AC/Heating units around the country. Chester was forced into early retirement in 2012 due to a heart attack. When he wasn't traveling, you could find Chester working on cars, motorcycles, or anything with a motor. Chester was always willing to help anyone out, work on any project, or sit around telling stories about all his adventures he had when he was on the road. In retirement you could always find Chester sitting with his dogs Sammy, Buddy, and Teddy. He is survived by daughters, Shannon Wilson, MN; Samantha (Harvey Mann) Ulrich, SC; Roxanne Boardman, WI; and Marny Boardman, WI. He is also survived by his grandchildren Ian (Kristiana) Carney, Shaina Carney (Zach), Alexis Kruser, Faith (Carson) Brumm, Nicole Walther, and Josh Walther. Chester is also survived by his brother, Robert (Joanne) Boardman, NC, and sister, Rebecca (Rex) Nodorft, WI. He is also survived by great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-nephews, and great-nieces. Chester is also survived by bonus children, Chris (Becky) Kotte, PDC, WI; Michelle (Charles) Casper, Bagley, WI; and Marjory Schnitzler, PDC, WI. He is also survived by his bonus grandchildren Jacob (Morgan) Kotte, Joshua Kotte, Riley Casper, Kayli, LeeLee, and Ashton Schnitzler. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Marilyn Keene; first wife, Judy; sister-in-law, Dorene Boardman; and his dog Sammy. To my family I leave you with this, “Carry me with you as I won't be very far away. I'll be in the wind, the changes of the season, or a butterfly. Please don't grieve for me long as one day we'll be together, when God calls you home. And there I will be waiting, to say, “Welcome Home!” The family would like to thank the staff at Lancaster Memorial Hospital for the wonderful care they gave to Chester. Also, to Garrity's Funeral Home for their services for the arrangement.
A Memorial Service will be Saturday, January 25, 2025, at 12:00 P.M. at the Garrity Funeral Home Chapel in Prairie du Chien. Inurnment with military honors will be held in the Beetown Cemetery in Beetown, WI. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service.
