Clarence G. “Smokey” Mezera age 85 of Prairie du Chien passed away Sunday, January 9, 2022 at Crossing Rivers Health in Prairie du Chien. He was born December 4, 1936 in Prairie du Chien the son of Martin and Helen (Cejka) Mezera. He served in the US Army National Guard and worked as a meat cutter for Swenson’s IGA for many years. He married Janice Buege who later preceded him in death. He married Marcella Hurda who also preceded him in death. He then married Linda Taylor. Smokey enjoyed hunting, fishing and was an avid Green Bay Packer and Professional Wrestling fan. He is survived by his wife Linda, his sons, Jeffrey (Janet) and Paul (Lisa), his sisters, Catherine (Edward) Rauch, Patricia (Elmer) Valley, Clara Powers and Helen (Doug) Jelinek, his brothers; Ronald (Gale) Mezera and Raymond (Carol) Mezera, 5 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wives, his sisters Theresa (Frank) Langkamp and Florence (Ivan) Finney, his brothers, Edward, Frank and Andy Mezera, a brother in law Terry Powers, along with a granddaughter.
A Memorial Service will be Friday, January 14, 2022 at 11:00 AM at the Garrity Funeral Home Chapel, Msgr. Charles Stoetzel officiating, with interment in the Calvary Cemetery both in Prairie du Chien.
