Daniel J. Hawes

Prairie du Chien, WI

Daniel J. Hawes age 83 of Prairie du Chien passed away Saturday, February 16, 2019 at his home surrounded by his family.  He was born October 26, 1935 on the family farm in Harpers Ferry, IA the son of Urban and Ruth (Farley) Hawes.  He married Kathleen Kramer on November 16, 1968 at Immaculate Conception Church in Wexford, IA.  Daniel worked in road construction before taking over the family farm near Harpers Ferry, IA and then later went back into road construction working for F.C. Raemisch in Waunakee, WI until his retirement. He was a member of the Operating Engineers Local 139 and was an avid hunter.  He especially enjoyed coon hunting.  He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Kathy of Prairie du Chien, his sons, David (Resa) of Holmen, WI, Terry (Robin) of Reedsburg, WI and Shawn (Emily) of Prairie du Chien, his sisters, Laurayne Schulte of Evansdale, IA and Ruth Ann Cordova of Waterloo, IA, his grandchildren, Brittany, Jared, Tasha, Autumn, Ava, Bryanna, Jake, Steven, Logan, his great grandchildren, Natalie, and twins which were born Feb. 17, 2019; Declan and Raleigh.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, February 22, 2019 at 11:00 AM at St. John’s Church of the Holy Family Parish, Rev. Eugene Wolf officiating.  A private family interment will be in the National Cemetery in Eastman, WI.  Friends may call at the Holy Family Parish Hall on Friday from 9:00 AM until the time of the Mass.
