Dennis James "Duke" Steele

Dennis “Duke” James Steele, age 65 of Prairie du Chien, WI passed away peacefully at UW Health University Hospital in Madison, WI on July 31, 2024. He was born on March 15, 1959, to Burnill and Lois (Stubstad) Steele. He graduated from Prairie du Chien High School with the class of 1977. Denny married Sharon Steiner on April 25th 1992. He worked at 3M in Prairie du Chien for 37 and a half years until he retired in 2016. After retirement he worked part time bartending at the Eagles Club. Duke loved spending time with family and friends. Music and sports were his passions. He loved watching and going to Badger, Brewer and Packer games. Duke especially enjoyed spending time on the river, listening to music, socializing, and vacationing. He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Sharon Steele, beloved cat, Fiji, two daughters, Nichole (Jason) Kreul, and Rebecca (Kevin) Schultz, and four grandchildren, Kelsey, Kayden, Mason and Cooper, three brothers, Vince (Sandy) Steele, Rich (Sheila) Steele, Mike Steele, and sister, Mary (Gene) Kirschbaum. He is preceded in death by his parents Burnill and Lois, and three brothers Pete, Clem and Bill, and sister-in-law, Joellen.

A Private Memorial Service will be held at the Garrity Funeral Home Chapel with inurnment in the Calvary Cemetery, both in Prairie du Chien. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, August 8, 2024, from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., where there will be an Eagles Club Tribute at 6:45 P.M.
