Gerald D. "Jum" Coorough

Gerald D. “Jum” Coorough, age 92 of Prairie du Chien passed away Sunday, April 2, 2023, at Prairie Maison surrounded by his family. He was born in Prairie du Chien on March 5, 1931, the son of Raymond and Mary (Gokey) Coorough. After graduating from Prairie du Chien High School with the class of 1949, he joined the U.S. Army and served until 1950. Jum married Eldora “Dorie” Stuckey on September 15, 1951. He worked construction and helped to build St. John’s Catholic Church in Prairie du Chien. Jum then worked at General Motors in Janesville, WI for 31 years until retirement when he returned to Prairie du Chien. In his retirement, Jum enjoyed fishing and was an active member of the Eagle’s Club in Prairie du Chien. He is survived by his wife of 71 years Dorie; their children Mary McIntyre, Nick (Barb) Coorough, Nancy Wixom, and Jim (Dee) Coorough; his sister Lois Harwood; his 9 grandchildren, Joseph, Scott, Ashley, Chris, Nicole, Cristin, Charlie, Angela, and Nate; and 13 great-grandchildren Michael, Veda, Morgan, Bridget, Dominique, Seven, Dylan, Kennedy, Kaden, Delaney, Blake, Logan, and Kylie. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Onie Kernan, Mary Lou Obmascher, Sally Stevens, Ray, and Leroy Coorough.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at 11:00 A.M. at St. Gabriel’s Church of the Holy Family Parish, Msgr. Charles Stoetzel officiating with burial in the Calvary Cemetery, both in Prairie du Chien. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service, where there will be an Eagle’s Club Tribute prior to the Mass.
