Greg Allen Beneker

Greg A. Beneker, age 77 of Prairie du Chien, WI passed away Thursday, March 16, 2023, at home surrounded by his family.  He was born on March 27, 1945, to Robert and Shirley (Gulick) Beneker in Prairie du Chien, WI.  While attending West Grant High School, Greg was an active member of the football, basketball, baseball, and track and field teams and helped his parents run their family owned and operated gas service station and diner in Bagley, WI.  After high school he went on to earn an associate’s degree within the automotive field from a technical college in Madison, WI. Greg went on to serve as Service Manager for over 40 years between three different General Motors dealerships in Prairie du Chien, WI – Huebsch Chevrolet, Lochner Motors, and Great Country Motors.  After retiring from Great Country Motors in 2010, Greg worked the next ten years as a dedicated driver for ADRC of Crawford County, Wisconsin. Things that Greg enjoyed were watching sports (especially his Packers, Badgers, and Brewers), deer hunting, cars, and gardening.  But what he loved most was his family.  He was a man of few words and didn’t readily show emotions but gave generously so much over the years that his love and devotion was unmistakable. Greg will be deeply missed by his wife of 53 years, Bette (Valley) Beneker, and his son, Bryan Beneker.  Greg is survived by many wonderful nieces and nephews.  He is preceded in death by his infant son Greg Beneker II, parents Robert and Shirley Beneker, sisters Terri (Jiggs) Finn and Cheri (Beneker) Fraser, brother Gary (Peggy) Beneker, father-in-law Carl Valley, and mother-in-law Mary (Koecke) Valley. The family would like to extend a very sincere and heartfelt thank you for the outstanding and compassionate care provided by the Crossing Rivers hospice team.

A private graveside service will be held in the Bagley Cemetery in Bagley, WI. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the family.
