Harry Carl "Deke" Jones

Harry C. “Deke” Jones age 87 lately of McGregor, IA passed away Tuesday, February 7, 2023, at the Great River Care Center in McGregor.  Deke was born September 2, 1935 in Marietta Township, WI, the son of Willard and Elva (Miller) Jones. Deke worked as a lineman in Wisconsin and Wyoming. He started singing and playing the drums and guitar while in high school and his love of music continued throughout his lifetime. He was a member of the band “The Noteables” while living in the Madison, WI area and later while living in Prairie du Chien; he played with many bands and friends. He had a radio show on one of the local radio stations and was involved in the Country Music Jamboree held in Prairie du Chien for many years. Deke is survived by his children Mark Jones, Cindy Jones-Petersen, Penny (Bob) Munson, Peter (Jane) Jones; grandchildren Heather, Erik, and Amy; great-grandchildren Maggie, Patrick, Audrey, Daniel, and Olivia; and his sister Beverly Ward. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Scott Jones and his companion of many years Juanita Valley.

A Memorial Gathering will be Thursday, June 22, 2023, from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the Garrity Funeral Home Chapel in Prairie du Chien, WI with private inurnment in the Boscobel Cemetery in Boscobel, WI.
