Harry William McKinley Jr.

Harry William McKinley Jr., of Lehigh Acres, FL passed away Wednesday, December 4, 2024, with his family by his side. He was born on July 16, 1937, the son of Harry and Geneva (Mindham) McKinley. Harry grew up in Crawford County, graduating from Wauzeka High School in 1955. He loved playing basketball and baseball. For several years after high school, he worked with his father farming and joined the Army National Guard. Eventually taking a job in Janesville, WI and then Kenosha, WI at American Motors where he worked for a few years before going into real estate. He married Janet Olson on June 17, 1961, at Utica Lutheran Church, Mt. Sterling, WI. After their marriage they lived in Kenosha where they raised their two daughters, Barbara and Michelle. Harry and Janet worked together, owning several businesses and buying and refurbishing older buildings and rooming houses, while Janet taught school. Their real estate adventures expanded to Lehigh Acres, FL and then to Holiday Island, AR. While living in Kenosha, they enjoyed their cabin on Legend Lake and taking weekends and family vacations. Deer hunting season would bring Harry back to Crawford County where he owned a farm near Steuben, WI. He also enjoyed hunting in Canada with friends. Harry is survived by his wife of 63 years Janet, and two daughters, Barbara McKinley, Boca Raton, FL, and Michelle McKinley, Cape Canaveral, FL; and sister Karen (Howard) Roth. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral Services will be Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. at Utica Lutheran Church in rural Ferryville, WI, Pastor Lynn Schreck officiating with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the Garrity Funeral Home in Prairie du Chien, WI on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. and also at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service.
