Heidi J. Bloyer, age 52 of Prairie du Chien passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, at her home. She was born in Prairie du Chien on December 16, 1970, the daughter of Kenneth and Norma (Adney) Bloyer. She was born and raised in Prairie and graduated from Prairie du Chien High School with the class of 1989. She then attended the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, graduating in 1993 with her Bachelor of Science degree. Heidi then began working at Wyalusing Academy in Prairie du Chien. She would later pursue her master’s degree in psychology, which she achieved from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. Heidi worked for many years as a Correctional Sargeant for the Wisconsin Department of Corrections. She began her career at the Wisconsin Secure Program Facility in Boscobel, WI and eventually moved back to Prairie du Chien, where she recently retired from the Prairie du Chien Correctional Institution after 26 years of service. Heidi loved the friends that she worked with over the years, and they grew to be like her second family. She enjoyed weekend getaways with friends, attending auctions, antiquing, and traveling. She especially enjoyed the opportunity to study abroad for a semester in Edinburgh, Scotland while attending UW-La Crosse. Above all, she cherished her family. She enjoyed traveling to support her nieces and nephews in their endeavors and provided as the main caretaker for her mother in her final years. Heidi was particularly close with her father, and her family takes solace in knowing that he and his little “brown-eyed girl” are together once again. She is survived by her siblings Michele (Randy) Check, Kim Bloyer, and Evan Bloyer; 5 nieces and nephews: Clair (Chris) Jelinek, Natalie and Travis Peek, and Megan and Max Bloyer; and her brother-in-law Bob Peek. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Amy Peek.
