Irmgard O. “Emy” Hogenson, age 95 of Prairie du Chien passed away Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at Crossing Rivers Health in Prairie du Chien, surrounded by her family. She was born in Sinning, Germany on October 9, 1928, the daughter of Paul and Maria (Haderer) Reissner. Emy grew up in Germany where she attended trade school. She met Willis “Tom” Hogenson while he was stationed overseas during Word War II. Tom and Emy were married on April 15, 1950, in Augsburg, Germany. Together, they moved with their daughter to the United States, where they were stationed at Fort Hood, near Mineral Wells, Texas. After spending some time living back in Germany, Emy moved with her family to Prairie du Chien in 1962. She began working at Gabel’s Laundromat in Prairie du Chien where she would remain for 40 years until her retirement in 2005. Emy loved to cook and bake for her family and friends. She always remembered loved ones’ birthdays and would often bake their favorite cake for them on the day. Emy cherished her family and extended that love to friends and neighbors alike. She is survived by her children Linda Sweeney, James Hogenson, and Mike (Michelle) Hogenson; sister Paula (Werner) Hirschberg; grandchildren Sean (Andrew) Sweeney, Heather (Dan) Lenzendorf, Zach (Delta), Alicia, Holly (Josh), and Casey Hogenson; great-grandchildren Corrina (Nicholas), Thomas, and Jonathan Lenzendorf and Christian Stickfort; nephew Kenny Dale, numerous other nieces and nephews; and special friend “Radio Rob” Bryson.
