James Milo Jones

James M. Jones, age 86 of Prairie du Chien passed away Monday, September 23, 2024, at home surrounded by his family. He was born June 25, 1938, to Milo and Myrtle (Schellsmidt) Jones. He grew up in Waukon, IA and helped his father on the family farm. He later worked at Hygrade Meat Processing before moving to Gencor Bituma in McGregor, IA, where he worked as a welder until retirement. He enjoyed taking road trips with his son Randy, who shared his interest in classic cars. James’s wife Dorothy preceded him in death on December 30, 2005. He is survived by his son Randy Jones; siblings Cleone Kelly, and Roy and Earl Jones; grandchildren Heather (Josh) Bissell, Lindsay (Nate) Cejka, and Nicholas (Ashley) Jones; great-grandchildren Maddox, Irelynd, and Easton Cejka, and Everett Jones; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers John and Lester Jones.

Mass of Christian of Burial will be Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at 10:30 A.M. at St. Gabriel’s Church of the Holy Family Parish, Fr. Brandon Guenther officiating with burial in the Calvary Cemetery, both in Prairie du Chien. Friends may call at the Garrity Funeral Home on Monday, September 30, 2024, from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. and also at the funeral home on Tuesday from 9:30 A.M. until time of departure for church.
