Janet Claire (Slaughter) Matthews

Janet C. Matthews, age 75 of Prairie du Chien passed away Tuesday, October 25, 2022, at home surrounded by her family. She was born October 4, 1947, the daughter of James and Betty (Hager) Slaughter. She grew up in McGregor, IA where she later graduated from high school. Janet married Kenneth Matthews on October 21, 1967, in McGregor. She worked at McGregor Loudspeaker before going to work at Advanced Transformer, where she worked for 30 years until retirement. She enjoyed playing softball, gardening, hunting, and fishing. She is survived by her husband of 55 years Kenneth; their children Kenneth Jr. (Davina), and Kent Matthews; her siblings Evelyn Brye, Raymond Slaughter, and Tammy Rose; her grandchildren Kenneth III, Kristopher, Kyle, Kolton, and Anthony; great-grandchildren Kiara, Kenneth V, Ava, and Jennifer; and her extended children Harvey Kansaku, Shawn Lachman, Becky Matthews, and Angela Foley. She was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings Marietta Petsche and Jesse Slaughter, a great grandson Kenneth IV, and her extended child Tammy (Eberly) Kansaku.   

A remembrance for Janet will be held on November 6, 2022, at 1:00 P.M. at her home in the pavilion.
