Jerome J. Link, age 78 of Farmersburg, IA passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, November 25, 2023, at Veteran’s Memorial Hospital in Waukon, IA. He was born on December 15, 1944, the son of Elmer and Anna (Schoulte) Link. Jerome grew up on the family farm in Farmersburg and graduated from Monona High School with the class of 1963. Jerome served in the U.S. Army National Guard for several years and also farmed most of his life. He then worked as a deputy sheriff for the Clayton County Sheriff’s Department until retirement. Jerome was an avid outdoorsman. He made many fishing trips to Alaska and annual trips to Montana to elk hunt. He was also an active member of the McGregor American Legion. He is survived by his siblings Dennis Link, Mary Ann (Jack) Eshelman, Linda Anderson, John Link, and Karla (Vern) Strayer, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 nephew, and brother-in-law, Louis Anderson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, December 1, 2023, at 11:00 A.M. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in McGregor, IA, Rev. Martin Coolidge officiating. Burial will be at 2 pm on Saturday, December 2, 2023 in the St. Charles Cemetery in Genoa, WI. Friends may call at the church on Friday from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the Mass. Military Honors will be accorded immediately following the Mass by the McGregor American Legion Post 267.
