Jon Peter Kaber

Jon P. Kaber age 67 of Prairie du Chien passed away Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at Meriter Hospital in Madison, WI following a brief illness.  He was born March 4, 1956, in Prairie du Chien the son of Rex and Joan (Kramer) Kaber. Jon was the 4th generation to own and operate Kaber’s Supper Club in Prairie du Chien where he worked for over 35 years. He was an exceptional chef and was most recently employed as a butcher for the Eastman Locker and the Piggly Wiggly. He married Cindy Fernette on November 9th 1985 at Kaber’s Supper Club. They were together for 11 years and they later divorced. He then married Jenny Lochner in Oct 28th 2000 for 7 years, and later divorced He was an avid golfer, golfing in tournamentss all over Wisconsin and was proud of accomplishing five different “holes in one”. He enjoyed a pickup card game, playing shake a day and was a main contributor to the Corner of Knowledge at the Sawmill Saloon and Jim’s Bar.

Jon is survived by his sons, Kyle and Kevin Kaber and Jesse Guerra, his sisters, Kathy (Michael) Kruse and Mary Jo (Larry) Hamann, his sister-in-law Deann Kaber along with two grandchildren, Kaedyn, and Mac.  He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Chris.
