Joseph Peter Bierman

Joseph P. Bierman, age 66 of Prairie du Chien passed away Sunday, March 19, 2023 at Gundersen Health System in LaCrosse, WI surrounded by his family. He was born in Lancaster, WI on November 6, 1956, the son of Henry and Alice (Ploessl) Bierman. He graduated from Bloomington High School with the class of 1974. Joseph married Catherine Walz on April 9, 1983, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bloomington. Together, they raised 4 children in Prairie du Chien. Joe worked as a machinist and maintenance mechanic. In his free time, he enjoyed carpentry and gardening. Joe was well known for generously sharing his garden produce with family and friends alike. Joe was a loving father, who was proud of his children and doted upon his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 40 years Cathy; their children Henry (Leigha) Bierman, Penny (Danny) Lawler, Chelsea (Osbaldi) Boekhoudt, and Lori (Eric) Moll; his 6 brothers, Bob (Nancy), Steve, Mark (Deb), Mike (Carolyn), Jim (Rose), and Jeff (Sherry Sikora) Bierman; his 2 sisters Kay (Jack) Schmit and Ginny Bierman (Don Dressler); sister-in-law Rita Bierman; brother-in-law Charlie Kitelinger; his grandchildren Claudia Lawler and Oliver Boekhoudt; and numerous other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Larry and Gary, and his sister Sue Kitelinger.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, March 24, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at St. John’s Church of the Holy Family Parish, Msgr. Charles Stoetzel officiating with burial in the Calvary Cemetery, both in Prairie du Chien. Friends may call at the Garrity Funeral Home on Thursday, March 23, 2023 from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. and also at the funeral home on Friday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of departure for church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to St. Feriole Island Memorial Gardens or Prairie Catholic Schools.
