Judith Bebow Obituary

Dad, we have had Mom on loan for the last four years, and now, it’s time that we give her back to you. Our one last wish for our mom finally came true on May 11, 2022. Judith Joan (Newman) Bebow, born December 9, 1938, was a mother like no other. She was determined, dedicated, passionate, hard-working and one of the original fashionistas. She told things the way they were but was consistently in your corner when you needed her. She was always ready to share a good book, encouraged you to read whenever you could, and instilled that love of reading to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Besides reading, Judy was an avid quilter, gardener, seamstress, dog lover, and sun worshiper. She could converse with anyone (even if you weren’t always interested) on the current political matters of the world. Mom loved to travel, and she and Dad were fortunate to visit many parts of the world. Mom loved her family, without a doubt, but she also loved her professional families as well, especially those as an obstetrics nurse supervisor at Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital, and later, those at the Villa Louis Historical Site in Prairie du Chien. She also enjoyed being a part of a local book club and a Red Hats group. Being married for 58 years to a coach, she learned the language of various sports and was an avid learner of the players and teams, past and present. “The Jude” as she is fondly called, is survived by her children: Brenda (Jeff) Lenzendorf, Jeff, and Jay (Mary) Bebow. She is further survived by her grandchildren: Kari Kronberg, Nick Lenzendorf, Katie (Cody) Mezera, Madison and Sydney Bebow, Claire and Sam Bebow. Also surviving are three great-grandchildren: Kaylie, Maddie, and Marlee Kronberg, and their dad, Anders Kronberg. Judy is also survived by her brother Dennis Newman; sisters Jackie Maresh and Lorie Giese; sisters-in-law Harriet Newman and Vickie Pokrant, many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Paul Neil, she is preceded in death by her parents: Edith (Britton) and Richard Pokrant and Edmund Newman; and her brothers Rick Pokrant, Edd Newman, and his daughter Carlise Newman. Memorials may be made to the Prairie du Chien Memorial Library or to the family.

A private family memorial will be held on Saturday, June 11th, with a Celebration of Life and sharing of memories at Huckleberry's Restaurant in Prairie du Chien, WI from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Helen Keller once said, “What we have once enjoyed deeply, we can never lose. All that we love deeply, becomes a part of us.”
