Julie (Wainwright) Shawano

Julie Shawano, age 78 of Madison, WI passed away Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at Madison Care and Rehab in Madison. She was born on December 31, 1947, to Robert and Anna Lucey (Hoffman) Wainwright. She married George Shawano on August 1,1975. Julie’s husband George later preceded her in death on November 23, 2007, following 32 years of marriage.

She is survived by her sister-in-law Judith Wainwright, brothers-in-law David Coleman and Gary Gillitzer, her nephews and a niece. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three brothers, two sisters, and two nephews.

According to Julie’s wishes, there will be no formal funeral services. Private interment will be held in the Evergreen Cemetery in Prairie du Chien.
