June Theresa (Smith) Petsche

Our beautiful, dear Mother, June Petsche sadly passed away on Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at home with her daughter Melody by her side. She never looked a day over 50, but you would never guess, she was 91. She was born in Mt. Sterling, WI on June 13, 1931, the daughter of Harry and Edna (Heisz) Smith. She grew up in Eastman, WI and attended school there. She was a Majorette, leading the Eastman 4th of July parade. She was a loving, hard-working mother who raised 9 children on her own. June was a fun grandma who was so proud of all her grandchildren. She was a good friend to many and a wonderful cook. She leaves us with her famous pumpkin bread recipe. She enjoyed playing bingo and cards for many years. June was a truly beautiful person, loved by many. She will be missed terribly. She is survived by her children Melody Igou, Jeff Petsche, Deanna (DeLose Goodrich) Muilenburg, and Irene Petsche; her sister Shirley Lenz; her daughter-in-law Kelley Petsche; her grandchildren Tiffany (Jeff), Megan (Jordan), Stacey (James), Brent (Jodi), Melissa, Gary (Tammy), and Justin (Karen); 15 great-grandchildren, 2 great, great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her children Garry, Larry, Bruce, and Cheryl Walz and Rick Petsche; her siblings Foster Smith, Juanita Harris, and Odene Kramer; and her grandchildren Cory Thornton and Dawn Walz.

A Visitation will be Thursday, January 12, 2023, from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the Garrity Funeral Home Chapel in Prairie du Chien. A Memorial Mass of Resurrection will be announced at a later date at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Eastman, WI, with inurnment in the church cemetery.
